The Department of Science and Technology La Union (DOST La Union) received a Certificate of Recognition from the DOST Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) after securing 3rd Place in the STARBOOKS 15th Anniversary Deployment Video Contest during the STARBOOKS 15th Anniversary Celebration held on June 24, 2026, at Acacia Hotel Manila in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.

The award recognizes DOST La Union's video documentation showcasing its efforts in bringing and strengthening science and technology initiatives in communities across La Union, highlighting the impact of making S&T resources accessible to the public. Featured in the video was Ms. Katrina F. Ronquillo, Senior Science Research Specialist and STARBOOKS Deployment Officer of DOST La Union. These initiatives were made possible through the efforts, support, and guidance of DOST Ilocos Region Director Teresita A. Tabaog, DOST La Union Provincial Director Mr. Jonathan M. Viernes, and DOST Ilocos Region STARBOOKS Focal Person Mr. Justin M. Madrid.

The award was personally received by Provincial Director Viernes and Ms. Ronquillo, together with Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations Services Ms. Racquel M. Espiritu and Mr. Lemuel G. Castigo, Science Research Specialist I. The winning entry was produced by the Regional Science and Technology Promotion Program Center (RSTPPC) of DOST Ilocos Region under the leadership of Mr. Castigo.

This recognition inspires DOST La Union and DOST Ilocos Region to continue making science, technology, and innovation more accessible and to ensure that these resources remain beneficial and responsive to the needs of communities throughout the region.
