Medellin National Science and Technology School Strengthens Science Program with DOST STARBOOKS Integration

Reinforcing its status as a premier institution for scientific learning, the Medellin National Science and Technology School (MNSTS) was officially recognized as one of the recipients of the STARBOOKS digital library during the Official Turn-over Rites held at the Provincial Capitol on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The inclusion of Medellin NSTS in this initiative is a strategic move by the Provincial Government and the Department of Education (DepEd), highlighting the school’s critical role as a premier provider of the Special Program in Science (SPS).

The acquisition of STARBOOKS (Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosks) is a direct response to the school’s need for high-level research materials that can be accessed even without an internet connection. This "library in a box" contains thousands of digitized scientific resources, journals, and K-12 instructional materials.

The MNSTS community expressed profound gratitude for the visionary leadership that made this acquisition possible. The school administration extended its sincerest thanks to Governor Pamela Baricuatro for her unwavering commitment to modernizing Cebuano classrooms, to Dr. Senen Priscilo P. Paulin, Schools Division Superintendent, for prioritizing science-centric institutions, and to Dr. Josephine Dela Torre, for her dedicated support in elevating the standards of the Special Program in Science.

"This is not just a turnover of equipment; it is an investment in the brilliance of our Medellin students," the memorandum suggested, emphasizing that the school's recognition as an SPS provider earned it this prestigious privilege.

With these new digital kiosks, Medellin NSTS is better equipped to bridge the digital gap, proving that world-class science education is accessible right in the heart of Medellin.
