The residents of Barangay Midpapan II, Pigcawayan availed of essential public services during the recent stop of the ELCAC Serbisyong Totoo Caravan. The initiative, organized by the  Provincial Government of Cotabato under the leadership of Governor Emmylou Lala Taliño-Mendoza, aims to bring public services closer to residents in ELCAC-identified communities through a whole-of-nation approach.

The  DOST XII - Department of Science and Technology - Region XII, through its Cotabato Provincial Office, joined the caravan to extend science, technology, and innovation (STI) support to the community. The team showcased nutrition technologies developed by the DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (FNRI), including the Enhanced Nutribun, Nutribunnet, and Nutricocookies—innovations designed to help combat malnutrition among children and nutritionally at-risk groups. These products serve as practical and evidence-based solutions to improve local nutrition outcomes while supporting livelihood activities for community-based producers.

The DOST XII team also conducted information sessions to raise awareness about the agency’s major programs and services. They highlighted opportunities under the Community Empowerment thru Science & Technology (CEST) Program, the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), and the DOST-STARBOOKS digital library initiative. In addition, they promoted the ongoing nationwide application for the 2026 DOST-Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) Undergraduate Scholarship, encouraging qualified students to apply and pursue careers in science and technology.

Through its participation, DOST XII reaffirmed its commitment to making STI more accessible and relevant to communities, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS). This initiative supports the government’s continuing efforts to promote inclusive growth, peace, and development in Cotabato Province.
