STARBOOKS, Now in St. Louis - HS Antamok, Itogon

Itogon, Benguet - St. Louis High School located at Antamok, Ucab receives, today, March 26, 2025, a Science and Technology Academic Research-Based Openly Operated Kiosk Station (STARBOOKS). This is through the initiative of the said school's alumni- Batch '85 who donated one (1) set hardware and software installation by the DOST - Science and Technology Information Institute, through the coordination of Association of Science and Mathematics Educators of Public and Private Schools, Inc (ASMEPPS).

Moreover, the DOST -CAR through DOST-Baguio-Benguet, conducted an orientation for the students and teachers on the operation of the STARBOOKS.

STARBOOKS is a science digital library that can be operated without internet connection. Updated contents consist of K-12 materials, precalculus videos, PhilRice Resources, Math and Science simulations.

In her message, DOST Baguio-Benguet Director Sheila Marie Singa-Claver emphasized on the advantage of the STARBOOKS. Aside from its offline-feature, the thousands of learning resources included are vetted by DOST, hence, a credible source of information.

Acknowledging the support of donors to students and the availability of learning resources towards better education, PSTD Singa-Claver further encouraged the students to do well in their studies saying, "Anything that you encounter in life, no matter how hard it may seem, can be surpassed if you prepare for it.'"

Moreover, ASMEPPS President and SLA Batch '85 Representative Eloisa Olivera said this initiative stems from their desire to support enduring education that money cannot buy.

Meanwhile, SLHS affirmed their commitment to taking care of the STARBOOKS and extended their grateful appreciation to all stakeholders involved for providing additional avenue for learning.

This is the third such coordinative donation of ASMEPPS to the province of Benguet. The first was turned over in Kabayan in 2023, while the second was given to Pacalso Elementary School-Itogon in 2024.//
