DOST-MIMAROPA Extends Access to Science and Technology Resources with STARBOOKS Installation at Schools in Oriental Mindoro

In an ongoing effort to promote science, technology, and innovation (STI) education, DOST-MIMAROPA introduced DOST's flagship digital library initiative, STARBOOKS, at two schools in Oriental Mindoro in September and October 2024, aiming to bri dge the digital divide in communities with limited internet access.

DOST-MIMAROPA, through the Provincial S&T Office in Oriental Mindoro, installed the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) at Malad Elementary School, marking the school as the latest recipient of this innovative resource. A memorandum of understanding was signed between DOST-MIMAROPA and the school, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Calapan City Mayor Marilou F. Morillo, officials from the local government, teachers, and Barangay Chairman Hector Africa.
