Good news to students at Caloocan City’s public schools! You can now easily access a wealth of science and technology information from your school libraries!
DOST-NCR through its CAMANAVA CASTO, DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII), and the Caloocan City Schools Division Office have partnered to install more than 80 units of the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) at Caloocan City’s public schools.
The official launching and orientation for STARBOOKS was held last August 7, 2024, at the SDO Caloocan Conference Hall in Grace Park, Caloocan City. Present at the launch were officials from SDO-Caloocan including Dr. Brian Ilan, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent; Ms. Jenilyn Rose Corpuz, Schools Division Superintendent; Mr. Dennis Mendoza, Regional LR Education Program Supervisor, and Dr. Jocelyn Aliñab, Chief Education Program Supervisor. They were joined by Mr. Rommel Azucena Jr. and Mr. Nicholas Zapanta from the DOST team.
DOST-STARBOOKS is the Philippines’ first Science Digital Library, which was developed by the DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute. The digital library contains various learning resources, mainly on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
