The DOST-Science and Technology Information Institute (DOST-STII) and BPI Foundation, Inc. partnered to deploy a STARBOOKS-ready computer unit at Cadalagan Elementary School (CES) in La Paz, Zamboanga City, on 11 July 2024.

"Let's dream big and accomplish more together with the Cadalagan community and our partners. This is a day to celebrate, explore, and work together for a brighter future," said Ian C. Avenido, Project Technical Assistant III, DOST Regional Office 9, during his welcome remarks.

"Our simple facilities can now cater to enhanced learning thanks to our successful partnership with BPI Foundation," stated Glenn E. Lusaya, CES's Outgoing Principal, during his special message.

"We're the fortunate sole recipient of STARBOOKS in Zamboanga City, and we hope to exceed all expectations for this project," Lusaya added.

"STARBOOKS is a vital tool for both teaching and learning. With gratitude, we accept this resource, ensuring it will be well-utilized by students and teachers," said Jerome Lucilo C. Lozano, CES Incoming Principal, during his message of acceptance.

This initiative is part of BPI Foundation's "Kasama Lahat sa Pag-unlad" advocacy, which aims to build a sustainable, inclusive, and financially well Philippines, and DOST-STII's mission of disseminating science, technology, and innovation learning resources through STARBOOKS.

"Inclusive progress is our goal – 'Kasama Lahat sa Pag-unlad.' Good education is the key to economic growth; so let's focus on math, science, and technology," said Juvylyn S. Reniva, BPI Foundation's Associate Director, during her closing message.

This second round of donations from BPI Foundation, worth Php 2.1 million, will allow 30 remote schools across the Philippines to have access to free state-of-the-art learning resources.

Reynaldo A. Morales, Jr. provided a comprehensive overview of STARBOOKS's background and history during the STARBOOKS User Training and Orientation attended by teachers from CES. This session aimed to familiarize the teachers with the platform and set expectations for its use.

Morales also showcased all the available content in the system, emphasizing the learning materials designed for Grades 1-12 students, which are also beneficial for teachers.
