Municipality of Lavezares Recipient of STI Assistance of PSTO Northern Samar

In a significant development for the community of San Roque, Lavezares, and Lope de Vega in Northern Samar, several projects have been officially turned over to the local government units as part of the Community Empowerment thru Science and Technology (CEST) program. This initiative aims to empower communities through technological advancements and innovative solutions.
One of the highlights of these turnovers took place in the municipality of Lavezares, where a total of nine (9) units of PortaSol and one (1) STARBOOKS were handed over to the local government. The turnover ceremony was led by PSTO Northern Samar Provincial Director, Engr. Veronica A. Laguitan and was graced by Dr. Ramil T. Uy, the CEST Regional Coordinator of the DOST Regional Office No. VIII, along with other dedicated staff members of PSTO Northern Samar.
The PortaSol and STARBOOKS units are valuable additions to the community as they are designed to provide access to clean and sustainable solar energy solutions and digital libraries, respectively. These projects highlight the commitment of the CEST program to enhance the quality of life and promote development in these areas.
The turnover ceremony symbolizes a promising step towards progress and empowerment for the residents of these municipalities, as they now have access to essential resources that can improve their daily lives and educational opportunities. The collaborative effort between the local government units and the CEST program sets a positive example for future initiatives aimed at uplifting communities through science and technology.
Present during the said turnover were the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Edito B. Saludaga, Municipal Agriculture Officer, Ms. Estrella Ofiana, other officers of the municipality, the beneficiaries of portasol, and the school recipient of the STARBOOKS unit. Training on DRRM is one of the assistance that will be provided under the said project.
