DOST XI, DOST-STII hand over 4 STARBOOKS to Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental

SARANGANI ISLAND, Davao Occidental—On April 25, 2024, the Sarangani MLGU, DOST Region XI, and 4 identified schools signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the turnover of Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated Kiosk Stations (DOST-STARBOOKS).

The ceremony took place at Alberto Olarte Sr. National High School in Sarangani, and was graced by Hon. Mayor Adelan B. De Arce, DOST-STII Director Richard P. Burgos, DOST XI Regional Director Dr. Anthony Sales, PFT, CESO III, and PSTO Davao Occidental Provincial Director Maria Victoria Dado. Each school-recipient was represented by its respective school head, namely: School Principal Ruby V. Balanay of Pulabato Elementary School, Head Teacher Editha O. Luarez of Angel Olarte Sr. Elementary School, Teacher-in-Charge Belle Hazel T. Magallanes of Patuco Integrated School, and Teacher-in-Charge Jessemar J. Wao (represented by Mr. Amor A. Baluran, Jr.) of Alberto Olarte Sr. National High School—who all collectively expressed their appreciation for the support from the DOST.

Following the ceremony was the hands-on training and installation of the units at the four identified schools. This initiative marks a step further towards bringing the STARBOOKS across the Philippine islands and seas, especially in this digital age where access to information is crucial in elevating education, especially in S&T.
