Collaboration Brings Digital Education to Lagayan, Abra

Lagayan, Abra is taking a big step towards digital education, with the recent turnover of six STARBOOKs Digital Library Computer Desktops. This initiative is a collaborative effort between the Department of Science & Technology - Cordillera Administrative Region (DOST-CAR) through the Provincial Science & Technology Office - Abra (PSTO-Abra) and the Local Government Unit of Lagayan (LGU-Lagayan).
The turnover ceremony, held today, marked a significant milestone in bringing the STARBOOKs program to Lagayan. The event included a User and Administrator Training for fifteen participants, including School Principals, ICT representatives, and municipal staff.
Municipal Mayor Edmarc L. Crisologo warmly welcomed participants and emphasized the project's importance. He highlighted the need for participants to make the most of DOST's technologies to foster curiosity and innovation among students, expressing gratitude to DOST-CAR for making the project possible.
Engr. Ralf B. Sapi-il, PSTD of PSTO-Abra, provided updates on the ongoing Smart & Sustainable Community Program with LGU-Lagayan, encouraging attendees to participate actively in DOST initiatives. Following this, Engr. Rona Mae A. Bautista, the STARBOOKS Provincial Coordinator, led an informative session, guiding participants through the STARBOOKs interface, account creation, and resource navigation.
The training also included a hands-on component, demonstrating how to operate STARBOOKs within the library's Local Area Network (LAN) environment. This practical experience allows participants to share their knowledge with their communities effectively.
The introduction of STARBOOKs in Lagayan aligns with the DOST's Smart & Sustainable Community Program (DOST-SSCP). Lagayan serves as the pilot municipality for Abra, showcasing the program's potential to empower communities through science, tevhnology and innovation.
This collaborative effort by PSTO-Abra and LGU-Lagayan sets the stage for a future where knowledge and innovation flourish with the aid of technology, embodying the spirit of "πππππππ πππππππ!"
